Acupuncturist and Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine Julia Oh

About Acupuncturist and Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine Julia Oh

Julia became familiar with acupuncture and oriental herbal medicine from a young age by accompanying and seeing her parents and relatives receiving treatments.

Now as a Chinese medicine practitioner herself, she applies treatment protocols that have been fine-tuned over decades by preceding practitioners for numerous conditions. She is also undertaking post-graduate research and studies, and is currently completing her PhD at the University of Technology Sydney. Julia supports and contributes to the Chinese Medicine profession’s move towards evidence-based treatments through rigorous research and clinical trials.

When she’s not working in the clinic or at her postgrad office at UTS, she loves to binge watch  Netflix!

What Julia treats:

While patients have sought out Julia’s assistance to treat and manage the symptoms of a range of conditions, she has a particular interest in working with patients with issues related to women’s health and infertility* (both male and female), pain, stress, digestion, and fatigue.

*There is some research evidence that Chinese medicine treatment may assist in supporting specific fertility treatments such as IVF, and there is also broad agreement by Chinese medicine practitioners and other health practitioners about acupuncture as an adjunct treatment for IVF.

Many health practitioners may recommend acupuncture as an adjunct treatment that may assist with IVF treatment. There is continuing research about how acupuncture can assist with the effectiveness of IVF treatment and you should consult your treating practitioner/s about how acupuncture may be able to help you.

Julia’s hours

Julia is available for appointments:

  • Tuesdays 2pm – 8pm
  • Thursdays 8am – 8pm
  • Saturdays 2pm – 8pm

What to expect at your first appointment

Your initial acupuncture appointment will last up to sixty minutes and is a private 1 on 1 session – our practitioners don’t treat multiple patients at once, so we can focus on you! Julia will discuss the history of your condition, carry out a series of tests, and explain the goals of treatment and answer any questions you may have.

Treatment is then provided and may involve a range of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques. Treatments rarely cause pain, and in the case that it does, it is usually temporary. Follow up appointments with Julia are usually 30 minutes in duration.
